About CastleWalks.org

Early in 2010 some members of the Stafford branch of Parkinson’s UK and Stafford Rugby Club joined to organise what is intended to be an annual family event providing healthy recreation while raising funding for worthwhile causes. Our first event, run in August 2010 was an unqualified success as judged by those who took part and completed the various walk options. Almost without exception participants said that they would return next year with friends. Some also provided photographic evidence to support their enthusiastic reports. In 2011 despite changeable weather numbers walking doubled and the total raised grew from £2000 to £5000. Again feedback from participants was enthusiastic. We believe that 2012 can show equal steps forward.

Parkinson’s UK, the RFU Injured Players Foundation, and Katharine House Hospice are all dependent on voluntary donations to carry out their essential work.

We will provide all participants with a warm welcome including access to food, drink and care which is expected in the worlds of Parkinson’s UK and Rugby.

About Parkinson's UK

Prodcut

Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s, a progressive neurological condition affecting movements such as walking, talking and even smiling. One person in every 500 has Parkinson’s but there is currently no cure and no way to halt its progression.

Parkinson’s UK was set up over 40 years ago to help everyone affected by Parkinson’s. In Stafford alone this accounts for almost 14,000 people when family and friends are included.

We bring people with Parkinson’s their carers and families together via our network of local groups our website and confidential helpline. Specialist nurses, our supporters and staff provide information and training on every aspect of Parkinson’s.

We fund groundbreaking research to advance understanding of Parkinson’s and improve care and treatments.Over the years our research has made it easier for people to live with Parkinson’s but we’re not done yet. We urgently need to do more research to overcome all the symptoms and ultimately to find a cure.

Our work is completely dependent on voluntary donations and the generosity of people like you. By raising sponsorship through your participation in Castle Walks you can really make a difference.
